Safe Spaces Policy

WGD wants you to feel safe and to be safe at our events, and we operate the following Safe Spaces Policy. The most important thing we want you to know is that if something or someone makes you feel uncomfortable at one of our events, no matter how minor it seems, you can report it to us.

Inappropriate behaviour includes (but is not limited to): offensive verbal comments or attitudes related to gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion; deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, and unwanted physical contact or sexual attention. Any inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and those engaging in it will be expected to stop immediately and may be expelled from our event.

Please know that our exec does not accept ignorance as an excuse for inappropriate behaviour. We also accept that we are not above our own policies so please know all of the above applies to all members of our exec in equal measure.

If you experience or observe any inappropriate behaviour, you can report it to an on-duty exec member who will be happy to assist in resolving the issue. If you do not feel comfortable talking to the on-duty exec, you may contact the Welfare Officer or another member of the exec directly. Alternatively, you can contact the entire exec via email at [email protected] and we will respond as soon as possible.

The exec will also be happy to help you contact campus security or the police, provide escorts, or otherwise assist you in feeling safe for the duration of the event.

Some photography and/or video recordings may take place at any of our events. Should you not wish to be photographed or filmed, please inform an on-duty exec who will pass this information onto the photographers. Likewise, if you want to make any recordings of our events, please be aware that some people may not wish to be recorded, so make sure that everyone involved is willing to take part before you do so.
